Flower Essences

Flower Essences are liquid, vibrational extracts of flowers used to address issues of emotional well being, soul development, and mind-body health. They are part of a developing field of subtle energy substances, which also includes homeopathy.

Flower Essences were formally introduced into healing practices by Dr. Edward Bach, an English physician. He prepared 38 remedies, mostly from England. In recent decades companies such as the Flower Essence Society from California (FES) or Prairie Deva from Western Canada have researched new flower essences from other plant species.

The essences are prepared from wildflowers or in some instances flowers from trees. The fresh blossoms are floated on the surface of a bowl of water, where the sun infuses them for several hours. Some of Bach’s tree essences are prepared by a boiling method. Both methods are said to create an energetic imprint of the etheric energy pattern of the flower in the water. This water is preserved with brandy and then further diluted and potentized to form stock bottles.

Flower essences are taken orally from a dropper bottle; the standard dosage is four drops four times daily. You can take the drops directly from stock bottles or dilute them down further.
Several flower essences addressing complementary emotional themes may be taken together.
To choose which essences to take it is important to first decide which emotional or mental issue you are dealing with is most pertinent.

Books such as FES’s Flower Essence Repertory provide great aid in making this choice. Flower essence practitioners also exist. The flower essence society website provides help with selecting a practitioner.

Whether you decide to seek help, or choose essences yourself, the essences work by stimulating awareness of inner conflicts and challenges, and strengthening our ability to work through obstacles. Flower essences are physically safe. They have no direct impact upon the body’s biochemistry. The essences may stir up emotions. If the emotions feel too intense dosage frequency can be decreased, or the mix of essences changed.

Flower Essences are made from the wild flowers on our planet, to help people realize more of who they innately are and to live out that purpose with more clarity and resonance.
