Chinese Art

Chinese Calligraphy

Writing in China is not regarded as just utilitarian, but also as a form of art. This site has many examples of calligraphy, as well as many links to other Chinese resources. The Chinese Calligraphy page is a subset of the site below, but since China the Beautiful is huge, I broke the calligraphy page out separately.

China the Beautiful

This is the best, the biggest, and the most comprehensive site on the web that addresses Chinese Art and Literature. Maintained by Doctor Ming L. Pei, you will not be disappointed by taking a visit to his famous site.

Ghengis Khan

Don't miss the showing of GENGHIS KHAN: TREASURES OF INNER MONGOLIA at The Provincial Museum of Alberta (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) from March 22 to July 6, 1997. This is a very interesting exhibit, and certainly worth a visit if it comes to a museum near you. As the show has come and gone, the Provincial Museum has a sample at their Virtual Exhibit page. Don't miss it!

Art of China

This is a link to pages maintained by Purdue University, and contains many jpeg images of historical Chinese art. These images are first displayed "postage stamp" size, and you can download the larger version (if you have time on your hands) to get some very nice pictures.
