Chinese Literature

Before you rush off to the world of Chinese Literature, perhaps you need to be able to read Chinese on the net. This site, built and maintained by Doctor Shunguo Liu, also has links to many Chinese magazines.

Bei Dao

This modern Chinese poet lives in exile in the United States, and this link takes you to information on his current situation. A list of some of his work that has been translated into English can also be found here.

Chinese Literature

Wenze Hu maintains this site, which has extensive links to online Chinese classics, poetry, and modern novels. You will need a Chinese language browser to see most (although not all) of these classic sites. Wenze's homepage has myriad links to all over the world, for all kinds of topics.

China the Beautiful

Chinese Literature Classics at the China the Beautiful site has of course, the Writings of Confucius, along with many links to other sites containing even more classics.

The Art of War

Sun Tzu, the ancient Chinese Philospher and Warrior, wrote this very often quoted Chinese classic. This link thanks to Hank Hughes at Northeastern University (Boston).
